Gary Rainford entices us to get the creative juices flowing: “Let’s begin the New Year together, writers gathering with other writers. ‘Swan’s Island Writes 2019’ will have two sessions per month, starting in January. These sessions are for anybody interested in creative writing fellowship. Bring a writing project or let’s start one together. We will meet Monday, Jan. 7 and 14 at the Swan’s Island Library from 6 – 7:30p.m. The cost is $5 per session. If the cost is an issue, let me know. Nobody will be turned away. Please message me or call 610-3138 with any questions.”
Donna Wiegle announces that 2019’s Maine Sea Coast Scholarship applications are available online for new students who are college-bound and for students already receiving scholarships to re-apply for 2019. The application deadline is May 1, 2019. Maine Seacoast Mission Program Manager for Scholarships and Outreach Terri Rodick asked some Maine Seacoast Mission scholarship recipients to make a short video telling viewers about what Mission scholarships meant to them; check out the Mission website for this interesting information.
We thank all those who participated in placing wreaths on Swan’s Island’s veterans’ graves. On Sunday, Dec. 16 they began at Rose Hill Cemetery and honored all our veterans. A special thank you goes out to Rob Morang for picking up the wreaths from the Wreaths Across America program.
Happy Birthday to Morgan Michele Matthews, Judson Cease, Libby Mills, Cameron Tahir Colbeth, Mary Anne Young, Asa Joyce, Jimmy Wheaton, and Christopher H. Sawyer.
