Section of Eden Street to close April 14-22

BAR HARBOR — Maine Department of Transportation officials announced today that Eden Street will be closed between West Street and Mount Desert Street from April 14-22 as part of the Route 3 reconstruction project.

DOT officials are projecting May 1 will be the first date that traffic on Route 3 will be one-way into town between Hulls Cove, where the first phase of the project was completed last year, and the downtown village. Outbound traffic will be routed on Eagle Lake Road or Paradise Hill Road in Acadia National Park.

An open house about the project is set for Monday, April 9, from 3-6 p.m. at the Bar Harbor Municipal Building.

State officials and contractors will share information and answer questions about construction plans for the second phase of the project in the coming months.
