Richardson resigns

Paul Richardson, who has represented Mount Desert on the Acadia Advisory Commission since 1989, has resigned, citing personal reasons.

The rest of the commission members on Monday passed a resolution acknowledging his “decades of volunteer service.”

“He was involved in the intense discussions resulting in the critical 1986 boundary legislation that we continue to rely on today to ensure that we’re on the right path,” the resolution reads. “We greatly benefited from his deep knowledge of the park and his commitment to upholding the historic intent of the park’s landscape and use.”

Richardson’s book, “The Creation and Growth of Acadia National Park,” was published in 2009.

The Mount Desert Board of Selectmen will select Richardson’s successor on the Acadia Advisory Commission.
