OLD TOWN — The deaths of a 34-year-old woman and two children resulting from a fire Monday night in their home here are being grieved by many friends and family on Mount Desert Island.

Firefighters brought Maiysha Somers-Jones and her children, Isis Doe, 10, and Zebulon Doe, 8, out of the house when they responded to the blaze, officials said. Efforts to resuscitate them were unsuccessful. Somers-Jones’ boyfriend, Jeremy Doe, the father of the children, was not at home at the time of the fire, which was reported by neighbors around 10 p.m., State Police said.

Somers-Jones, 34, is the daughter of Beth Somers of Otter Creek and Kyle Jones of New York City. Kyle Jones is a former Democratic state representative from Bar Harbor. Maiysha and her sister, Hannah, who was seriously injured in a car crash last year, grew up in Bar Harbor.

Maiysha Somers-Jones managed the Log Cabin Restaurant in Hulls Cove in the past and her children attended Connors Elementary School in Bar Harbor for a time last year.

A team of investigators continue to work to determine the cause of the fire and planned to return to the house on Wednesday.

The State Medical Examiners Office conducted autopsies Tuesday, but no results have been released yet.

Fire officials said there were no working smoke detectors in the house.
