Driver dies in pickup crash



BAR HARBOR – Bar Harbor police are working to identify the person driving a pickup truck that crashed and burned in Town Hill early Sunday morning.

According to a press release, a 2000 Ford pickup was heading east on the Gilbert Farm Road around 1:45 a.m. when it left the roadway and struck a large group of trees. As a result of the crash the vehicle caught fire, police said.

A body was found in the driver’s seat. Police are working with the Medical Examiner’s office to positively identify the driver whose name has not been released.

Mount Desert, and Ellsworth police assisted Bar Harbor Police at the scene. Also on scene were Bar Harbor firefighters along with Mount Desert fire crews and the Maine Fire Marshal’s Office.
