Trojan softball falls to Ponies, Golden Bucks

BAR HARBOR — The Mount Desert Island High School varsity softball team fell 16-6 to the Foxcroft Ponies at home on Saturday as the Trojan defense faltered, notching seven errors.

The Trojans racked up six hits. Aubrie Boyce recorded a double and a single for MDI, and Ali Bender pitched in with two singles.

Lindsey McEachern took the pitcher’s mound for MDI and struck out five batters.

“We need to work on our hitting, we’re making mental errors,” Coach Jamey Lewis said. “We’re going to get our mental errors put away. We have to execute better and that’s as a whole team. That’s me included.”

McEachern pitched four innings for the Trojans and struck out five batters. Maddie Thornton pitched the final inning.

“Lindsey [McEachern] has been doing a good job for us,” said Lewis. “We just have to back her up.”

MDI is set to travel to Hermon High School on Thursday, April 28, at 4:30 p.m. and will host Presque Isle for a double header on Saturday, April 30, at noon.
