Tourney, pretzels to aid kids

BAR HARBOR — Bar Harbor Bank & Trust’s 23rd Annual David R. Harding Memorial Golf Tournament is set for Tuesday, June 7, at Kebo Valley Golf Club.

Tournament proceeds will benefit the Park Street Playground Project, a joint venture under the direction of the Bar Harbor (MDI) Rotary Club.

In 2011, local mom Amy Schwartz established the project hoping to remodel and revitalize Bar Harbor’s public playground. The mission is to create a safe and accessible outdoor environment, promoting health, imaginative play and developmental learning for the children of the town and neighboring MDI communities. In 2016, the Bar Harbor/MDI Rotary Club assumed leadership of this community project with the goal of completing it in 2017.

So far, approximately $30,000 has been raised toward the $175,000 project goal.

Organizers invited the community to help raise funds for the Park Street Playground Project by participating in the tournament as a sponsor, golfer or donor. Contact Cathy Planchart at 667-0660, ext. 4655.

Pretzel promotion

To support the playground, FishMaine Inc. will introduce a new menu item, The Park Street Pretzel, at all of their local restaurants this season. Proceeds from all sales will directly benefit the fundraising efforts for the Park Street Playground.

The Park Street Pretzel will be available on the menus at the Fish House Grill, Jalapenos, Cherrystone and Bar Harbor BeerWorks beginning in May. The pretzel will be featured in its own pairing for each restaurant’s menu.

This is not an average soft pretzel. The pretzel is quite large, which makes the appetizer great for sharing and for families.
