BREWER — Ellsworth Eagle and Mount Desert Island Trojan athletes combined for wins in 11 events on Monday at the Penobscot Valley Conference Large Schools Outdoor Track Championships.

The Bangor Rams took top honors for the girls and the Brewer Witches won the boys’ team title.

Team scores for the girls were Bangor 142, Brewer 110, Old Town 91, MDI 72, Hampden Academy 54, Ellsworth 50, Caribou 37, Presque Isle 29 and Hermon 4.

The girls’ 1,600-meter run proved one of the most exciting races of the day.

Looker went on to win the 800-meter run for the Eagles with a time of 2:22.82.

Ellsworth’s Tori Huntley also took top honors in the javelin with a personal best throw of 110 feet, and Elizabeth Perry gave the Eagles a third title with her winning throw of 32 feet in the shot put.

MDI’s Maggie Painter won the 3,200-meter run in 11:56.21, and combined with Olivia Erickson, Waylon Henggeler and Isabel Erickson to win the four-by-800-meter relay in 10:07.02.
