Swim teams swamp GSA



BAR HARBOR — The Mount Desert Island High School boys’ and girls’ swim teams both beat George Stevens Academy in last Thursday’s meet at the MDI YMCA.

“A really good meet,” MDI Coach Tony DeMuro said. “Lots of kids were near or at their best times, which is great for this time in the season.”

The Trojan boys took first in every event to top GSA 140-26. The girls’ team won with a total score of 121-53.

According to DeMuro, the teams performed well in relay splits and displayed “great attitude despite being tired and sore.”

On the boys’ side, the Trojan ‘B’ team, Zeke Valleau, Kristoph Naggert. Liam Sullivan and Yanni Roguski, finished first with 1:55.77. The Trojan ‘A’ team, Pierce DiMauro, Jacob Mitchell, Sam Tehennepe and Chase Mcgee, was second with 2:00.99.

Isaac Weaver won the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 2:12.07, followed by Herbie Shaw with 2:28.73 and Lanvin Estacio with 2:30.54.

In the 200-yard individual medley event, Naggert was first with 2:15.28, Mitchell was second with 2:19.22, and Hutchin Gerrish was third with 2:23.67.

Shaw won the 50-yard freestyle in 30.60 seconds, and Mcgee was second with 30.90.

Bryce DiMauro won the 1-meter diving event with a score of 151.35. Tehennepe was second with 96.20, followed by Roguski with 95.75.

In 100-yard butterfly, Naggert was first with a time of 1:00.66, followed by DiMauro with 1:02.15 and Weaver with 1:09.57.

Tehennepe won the 100-yard freestyle in 58.70 seconds, and Valleau was second with 1:01.35.

Sullivan was first in the 500-yard freestyle event with 5:16.04, and DiMauro was second with 5:35.57.

The Trojan ‘A’ team of Tehennepe, Weaver, Shaw and Roguski won the 200-yard freestyle relay with their time of 1:54.32.

Valleau finished first in 100-yard backstroke with 1:04.56, and Gerrish was second in 1:07.18.

In the 100-yard backstroke event, Sullivan was first with 1:03.10, and Mitchell was second with 1:12.23.

DiMauro, Gerrish, Estacio and Sullivan from the Trojan ‘A’ team won the 400-yard freestyle relay with 3:45.97. The ‘B’ team of Naggert, Weaver, Shaw and Mitchell was second with 3:49.63.

For the lady Trojans, Lydia DaCorte, Ceileigh Weaver, Kirstin DiMauro and Maddie Woodworth took first in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 2:08.60. The Trojans ‘B’ team, Mary Ellen Sharp, Anna Naggert, Aubrie Boyce and Eliza Schlief, was second with 2:11.24.

Avalon Kerley took first in the 200-yard freestyle with her time of 2:10.58.

Woodworth won the 200-yard individual medley with 2:37.54.

Schlief won the 50-yard freestyle event in 27.31 seconds, and Boyce finished second in 28.83.

Chelsea Schroeder won in 1-meter diving with a total score of 137.10, and Ceileigh Weaver was second with 103.04.

In the 100-yard butterfly event, DaCorte finished second with 1:01.20, Boyce was third with 1:11.91, and Kirstin DiMauro was fourth with 1:27.27.

Schlief won the 100-yard freestyle with her time of 1:01.48, and Bailey Cust was third with 1:07.58.

In 500-yard freestyle, Anna Naggert was second with 6:13.13, and Rachel Jacobs was third with 6:41.01.

Kerley, Boyce, Cust and Anna Naggert of Trojan ‘A’ team took first in the 200-yard freestyle relay with 1:55.02, and the ‘B’ team, Ceileigh Weaver, Jacobs, Carolyn Hopkins and Sara St. Clair, was second with 2:33.59.

Kerley was first in the 100-yard backstroke with 1:06.31, and Ceileigh Weaver won the 100-yard backstroke with 1:20.19.

Jacobs, Cust, Schlief and Kerley were first in the 400-yard freestyle relay with a time of 4:13.42.

The next meet is set for Friday, Dec. 18, against Brewer High School at the YMCA in Bangor, followed by a home meet against Washington Academy on Wednesday, Dec. 23, at the MDI YMCA.
