MDI girls outswim Bangor



BANGOR The Mount Desert Island High School girls’ swim team trounced Bangor High School in last Friday’s dual meet at Husson University.

The Trojan girls finished with 105.5 points, well ahead of Bangor’s 74.5. MDI’s boys’ team was edged out 94-89.

“It was a very competitive meet,” MDI Coach Tony DeMuro said. “There were some really good swims and some good races.”

In the girls’ 200-yard medley relay, the MDI ‘A’ team of Maddie Woodworth, Avalon Kerley, Lydia DaCorte and Eliza Schlief was first with a time of 1:59.98.

Kerley won in the 200-yard freestyle with 2:06.61.

DaCorte was on top in the 200-yard individual medley with 2:18.70 and was followed by Aubrie Boyce in 2:35.39.

Schlief was first in the 50-yard freestyle with her time of 27.76 seconds.

Junior Chelsea Schroeder won in the 1-meter diving event with a final score of 155.85. Ceileigh Weaver was second with 92.30.

DaCorte took first in the 100-yard butterfly with 1:02. Rachel Jacobs was third with 1:11.73.

Woodworth was third in the 100-yard freestyle with 1:01.33, followed by Schlief with 1:02.07.

Freshman Anna Naggert was second in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 6:06.67 and was followed by MDI senior Mary Ellen Sharp with 6:15.90.

The Trojan team ‘A’ of Woodworth, Boyce, Naggert and Kerley took first in the 200-yard freestyle relay with 1:51. Team ‘B,’ Rachel Jacobs, Sammy Jacobs, Kirstin DiMauro and Bailey Cust, was third with 2:05.13.

Woodworth was second in the 100-yard backstroke with 1:12.06, and Sharp was third with 1:12.10.

Kerley won in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:14.22. Boyce was second with 1:18.81.

Team ‘A’ of Schlief, Weaver, Naggert and DaCorte was second in the 400-yard freestyle relay with 4:04.62.

In boys’ swimming, the Trojan 200-yard medley relay team ‘A’ of Kristoph Naggert, Liam Sullivan, Pierce DiMauro and Jacob Mitchell was on top with a time of 1:46.71.

Sullivan took first in the 200-yard freestyle with 1:51.56, and Pierce DiMauro was second in the 200-yard individual medley with 2:14.68.

Senior Kristoph Naggert was second in the 50-yard freestyle with 24.78 seconds. Isaac Weaver was third with 26.33.

Bryce DiMauro took second in 1-meter diving with his score of 141.15. Senior Yanni Roguski was third with 106.10.

Mitchell was second in the 100-yard butterfly with 1:00.88.

In the 100-yard freestyle, Pierce DiMauro was on top with 52.97 seconds.

Kristoph Naggert was second in the 500-yard freestyle with 5:24.45. Junior Hutchin Gerrish was third with 5:38.57.

The Trojan team ‘A’ of Pierce DiMauro, Sam Tehennepe, Gerrish and Sullivan was first in the 200-yard freestyle relay with 1:38.64.

Team ‘B’ of Herbie Shaw, Roguski, Zeke Valleau and Isaac Weaver was third with 1:52.81.

Mitchell was first in the 100-yard backstroke with 1:00.65, and Sullivan was second in the 100-yard breaststroke with 1:00.52.

Team ‘A’ of Roguski, Gerrish, Shaw and Mitchell was third in the 400-yard freestyle relay with 3:58.69.

The next meet is set for Friday, Jan. 15, at 6 p.m. against Ellsworth High School at the MDI YMCA in Bar Harbor.
