ELLSWORTH — The 9/10 and 11/12 Acadian Youth Sports all-star softball seasons have come to an end. Both teams lost to Ellsworth in a best-of-three series.

The 9/10 team opened the tournament with a 17-2 loss to the Ellsworth softball team in Bar Harbor on Friday evening. On Saturday, they turned around and picked up the defense, holding Ellsworth to 10 runs, but were able to post only three themselves. Olivia Gray pitched a full game for the Acadians, collecting 13 strikeouts. She also singled twice to go along with Emily Carter’s two doubles.

The 11/12 Acadian team fared a little better but suffered the same fate as their younger counterparts, falling again to Ellsworth in two games. In the first game, the AYS All Stars stayed close but could not close the gap as they fell 11-8 in Bar Harbor. The following week, the 11/12 team kept it close again but lost 5-2 in the second game.

Unlike the All Star baseball tournaments, only Ellsworth and Mount Desert Island were able to field teams for the annual District One tournament. With the victories, Ellsworth clinches the crown and will represent the district at the 2015 State Championship.

The 9/10 softball team included team members Addyson Boyce, Leah Carroll, Lucie Dostie, Bailey Goodell, Olivia Gray, Kaya Gray, Soren Hopkins-Goff, Emma Hudson, Lily James, Emma Kennedy, Kylie Michaud, Claire Moore, Gracie Parker, Sadie Sullivan and Emily Carter.

The 11/12 team included Ruby Brown, Gabby James, Kelsey Mills, Julia Perconti, Maddie Tibbetts, Kylie Higgins, Rachelle Swanson, Hannah Viechnicki and Emily York.
