MDI softball team continues to roll 

BAR HARBOR — There has been no shortage of top-notch, spirited play on the high school softball diamonds, as a bevy of area squads continued to perform at a lofty level and remain in strong position in the Maine Principals’ Association Heal Point standings. 

As of Monday, May 16, Mount Desert Island softball sat at 7-2. 

MDI 10, GSA 0 

At Bar Harbor May 14, the Trojans emerged with a shutout win over the George Stevens Academy Eagles.  

MDI was paced at the dish by Lily James (triple, RBI), Bailey Goodell (three singles, double, RBI), Addy Boyce (two singles, two RBIs), Grace Horner (single), Olivia Gray (two singles, RBI), Mollie Gray (two singles, double, RBI), Leah Carroll (double, RBI), Lexi Tozier (single) and Gracie Parker (two singles, two RBIs).  

Goodell pitched for the Trojans and allowed three hits and three walks, with 11 strikeouts. 

MDI 12, John Bapst 4 

At Bar Harbor May 13, the Trojans went on the offensive and blasted past the visiting Crusaders. 

MDI’s offense was keyed by James (single, RBI), Goodell (triple), Boyce (three singles), Horner (double, single, two RBIs), Olivia Gray (single, RBI), Mollie Gray (two doubles, single, two RBIs), Carroll (double, RBI), Soren Hopkins-Goff (single) and Tozier (single). 

Boyce pitched for the Trojans and allowed four hits and one walk, with 10 strikeouts.  

Bucksport 7, MDI 5 

At Bucksport May 11, the hosts earned a pair of crucial insurance runs in the sixth inning and bested the Trojans. Bucksport scored two in the third, three in the fifth and two in the sixth, while MDI plated one in the first and four in the fifth.  

The Golden Bucks were keyed on offense by Sam Cyr (three singles, two RBIs), Faith Vincent (two singles) and Jetta Shook (triple, single), while the Trojans were paced at the plate by Goodell (two singles, stolen base), Horner (two singles, RBI), Mollie Gray (double), Carroll (double, single, RBI), Sadie Sullivan (single) and Tozier (single). 

Ella Hosford pitched for Bucksport and allowed nine hits and one walk, with seven strikeouts. Boyce pitched for MDI and allowed 10 hits and one walk, with six strikeouts.
