BAR HARBOR — The Mount Desert Island varsity boys soccer team faced two of the top three teams in their league this week, losing to Ellsworth 3-0 and tying Caribou 2-2. MDI now stands at ninth out of 19 teams in Class B East, with a 1-5-1 win-loss-tie record.
The Trojans took on Ellsworth Monday night at home, with a large group of supporters and the school pep band braving the chilly night air.
MDI nabbed the first two goals in their Sept. 21 home game against Caribou. Junior Jack Sasner got past the Caribou keeper for the first goal. He was assisted by Joe Grubb.
Coming up next are rematches with John Bapst and Presque Isle. The John Bapst game will be played at Husson on Sept. 30, and Presque Isle at home on Oct. 2.
