HERMON — One week remains in Mount Desert Island regular season soccer following the Trojans’ most recent games.
The MDI boys maintained their midtable position with a draw in Monday’s road game against Hermon. On the girls’ side, MDI experienced one of its more difficult stretches of the campaign as it fell to defeats against John Bapst last Thursday and against Hermon on Monday.
After falling to a 5-0 defeat at John Bapst last Wednesday, MDI claimed a draw for the second time in three games with a 2-2 result at Hermon High School. Ieuan Howell scored in the first half to tie the game for the Trojans (1-6-2), and Cedar Ellis gave the visitors a 2-1 edge in the second half before the Hawks got a goal from long range to level the score.
On the girls’ side, MDI traveled to Bangor last Thursday and fell to a 5-0 defeat against third-ranked John Bapst. Returning action Monday for a road battle against Hermon (9-0), the Trojans got a goal from Jenny Carr via a Lelia Weir assist in a 6-1 loss to the top-ranked Hawks.
The MDI boys’ team is scheduled to host Class C contender George Stevens Academy (8-4) Thursday, Oct. 14. The Trojans will then host John Bapst on Saturday, Oct. 16, before closing out the season with a home game against Ellsworth on Monday, Oct. 18. All three games are scheduled for 6 p.m. kickoffs.
The MDI girls (3-8) will also close out the regular season with a three game home stand. The Trojans, who were scheduled to host GSA on Wednesday, will host John Bapst at 1 p.m. Saturday and Ellsworth at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 19.
