ELLSWORTH — The George Stevens Academy Eagles and the Ellsworth Eagles were winners in the first week of boys’ high school soccer action.

After losing a squeaker to Orono in their opening game, the Eagles rebounded on Tuesday for a 6-0 win over the Deer Isle-Stonington Mariners.

Ellsworth downed the Hermon Hawks 3-0 on Tuesday in Hermon.

GSA 6, DI-Stonington 0

In GSA’s win 6-0 over the Deer Isle-Stonington Mariners, Gar-rison Looke scored on an assist from Nick Bianco in the first half.

GSA added five more goals in the second period.

John Larson opened the scoring, Harrison Vinall followed with a diving header on a cross from Looke, and Rowan Waring, Aiden Byrne and Jacob Witting added goals for the Eagles.

Goalkeepers Tim Cousins and Jacob Reynolds combined for a single save on four shots, and Ethan Shepard had nine saves on 16 shots in goal for the Mariners.

In other action on Tuesday:

Old Town 3, MDI 2

C.J. Moody scored his second goal with seven minutes to go, giving the Old Town Coyotes a 3-2 win over the Mount Desert Island Trojans in Old Town.

Drew Coulombe put the Coyotes in front early, but a pair of goals by Joe Grubb gave the Trojans a 2-1 lead before Moody netted his first goal to knot the score.

Simon Hulbert made 13 stops on 18 shots in goal for the Trojans, and Austin Sheehan had 11 saves on 13 shots for Old Town.

Orono 7, Bucksport 1

An opening goal by Jordan Cunningham gave Bucksport’s Golden Bucks a short-lived lead before Orono put seven shots into the net for a 7-1 Red Riot victory in Bucksport.

Bangor Christian 4, Sumner 1

An unassisted goal by Baramee Janla was the lone score for the Sumner Tigers in a 4-1 loss to the Bangor Christian Patriots in Bangor.

Washington Academy 2, Sumner 0

First-half goals by Bion Parsons and Manzi Yves lifted the Washington Academy Raiders to a season-opening 2-0 shutout over the Sumner Tigers on Friday in East Machias.

Orono 3, GSA 1

The Orono Red Riots opened on a winning note on Saturday, downing the George Stevens Academy Eagles 3-1 in Orono.

Anthony Bottie put the Red Riots in front when his free kick glanced of a GSA defender and into the net late in the first half.

The Eagles scored their lone goal just half a minute later as John Larson took a pass from Garrison Looke and sent it into the Orono net.

The Red Riots reclaimed the lead on the first of two goals by Kam Stockley.

The Eagles missed an opportunity to re-tie the score when Orono fullback Nathan Frederick cleared away a corner kick by GSA’s Beowulf Urban that was headed for the goal.

Goalkeepers Tim Cousins and Jacob Reynolds combined for 12 saves on 25 shots for GSA, and Orono goalie Alik Espling made five stops on seven shots.

Searsport 6, Bucksport 0

The Searsport Vikings spoiled the home opener for the Bucksport Golden Bucks on Saturday with a 6-0 win in Bucksport.
