Tee Off for Teal aids cancer fight

BAR HARBOR — Kebo Valley Golf Course is set to host the Seventh Annual Tee Off for Teal on Wednesday, Aug. 19, at 5 p.m.

The 9-hole ladies scramble golf tournament and dinner is an ovarian cancer fundraiser in memory of Rita Johnston and Geertruida “Cookie” Willems.

“Teal is the color for ovarian cancer, and yes, we are trying to raise money, but also awareness!” posted organizer Jacqueline Fitzpatrick on Facebook.

The cost to play in the golf scramble is a $20 donation and $5 participation for non-members. Greens fees have been reduced to $15. A $10 charge for a cart is optional.

The format is a straight scramble, friendly to all skill levels.

Dinner is at Links Pub at 7:15 p.m. and costs $14, which includes entree, dessert and coffee or tea, as well as the tip.

Contact the Kebo Valley Pro Shop at 288-3000, ext. 1, to sign up as an individual or a team for both golf and dinner, or just dinner and raffles.

All proceeds will be donated to The Cookie Willems/Jackson Laboratory Cancer Research Fund.
