Norton, Paine, Sargent, Smith win Harding golf



BAR HARBOR — Phil Norton, David Paine, Dan Sargent and Mike Smith won the 22nd Annual Bar Harbor Banking & Trust David R. Harding Memorial Golf Tournament at Kebo Valley Golf Club here. The foursome took the title with a gross score of 61.

The foursome of Tim Buell, Tim Mayo, Robin Macleod and Tom Maffucci were the second-place gross finishers with a score of 66.

The top mixed-team gross winners were Sara O’Connell, Clyde Lewis, Curtis Simard and Matt Caras with a score of 67.

The best net-score finishers, with a 54.5, were the foursome of Laura Smallidge, Glenn Smallidge, Jack Frost and John Bennoch. Runners-up for net score were Frank Derevere, Eben Salvatore, Dan Simeon and Mike Simeon.

There were four holes involved in a closest-to-the-pin contest. Jason Birmingham won hole four at 13 feet, 5 inches, Frank Derevere won hole six with 34 feet, 7 inches, Matt LaHaye won hole nine with 18 feet, 3 inches, and Jay Pearl won hole 15 with 16 feet, 8 inches.

On hole 18, Jim Kiser boasted the longest drive for the men, while Edi Hall represented the women.

The proceeds from this year’s tournament benefit the Downeast Horizons’ Children’s Program.
