BAR HARBOR — The Mount Desert Island High School football team beat Ellsworth by a convincing score of 44-12 in their second exhibition game of the preseason on Friday, Aug. 28.
The Trojans’ Croix Albee scored four touchdowns for MDI on their first four possessions. With a little over two minutes left to the end of the first quarter, Albee went in from the 1-yard line and made a 75-yard drive, putting MDI ahead 14-0.
In the second half of the scrimmage game at Ellsworth High School, both teams put in their second- and third-team starters.
In the final minutes of the match, Ellsworth’s Javon Williams stripped the ball from MDI and ran it back 35-yards for a defensive touchdown for their team, ending the game 44-12.
“The performance of the team has been good for our two preseason games,” said Coach Mark Shields. MDI takes on Foxcroft Academy away on Friday, Sept. 4, at 7 p.m.
“Our focus now is on skill development, conditioning and playing together as a team,” added Shields. “Our outlook is one opponent at a time.”
