ELLSWORTH — With 14 seniors in the lineup and a long history of football behind them, the Mount Desert Island Trojans did what they were expected to do in their first-ever game against the Ellsworth-Sumner Eagles.

In an exhibition contest on Friday, the Trojans rolled to a 48-0 win.

The Eagles will play a Class C schedule, one step below their enrollment level, again this year, making them ineligible for post-season play.

They will open the regular season on the road, traveling to Bangor Friday to face the John Bapst Crusaders at 7 p.m.
