Candage to represent MDI at Lobster Bowl

BIDDEFORD — Mount Desert Island High School senior Teagan Candage has been selected to represent MDI High School in the 25th Annual Shrine Lobster Bowl. Each Maine high school with a football team sends one representative to this All Star East vs. West Football Game. In his senior football season, Candage rushed over 1,000 yards and was a semifinalist for the Fitzpatrick trophy.

This year’s Lobster Bowl game is set for Saturday, July 19, at Waterhouse Field in Biddeford. Each player raises funds to cover the week-long overnight training camp at Hebron Academy. Any additional monies raised go to support the Shriners Hospitals, which are a leader in the treatment for juvenile burn victims, orthopedic disabilities and injuries, spinal cord injuries, and cleft lip and palate disorders.

Candage has already collected enough to cover the camp expenses, but he and his family are continuing to raise funds to support the hospitals and to give MDI and Hancock County more visibility at the game. They’d like to collect sponsorships in the first week of June. For more information on sponsorships or tickets to the game, please contact the Candage family, 288-0019.
