Blue Hill runners, Ellsworth teams win Parker Pruitt race



SULLIVAN — Eighth-graders Tess Williamson and Joshua Bell of Blue Hill emerged as the top runners among 268 middle school boys and girls competing in the annual Parker Pruitt cross-country meet at Sumner Memorial High School on Monday.

Williamson bested seventh-grader Daisy Granholm of Pemetic by seven seconds with her winning time of 11 minutes and 58 seconds over the 1.71-mile course.

Other girls finishing among the top 10 were Trinity Montigny of Beech Hill, third in 12:06; seventh-grader Caitlin McPherson of Ellsworth, fourth in 12:07; seventh-grader Katelyn Osborn of Mount Desert, fifth in 12:33; eighth-grader Gabby Gonzales of Dedham, sixth in 12:34; seventh-grader Lily Audibert of Dedham, seventh in 12:34; eighth-grader Julia Watras of Tremont, eighth in 12:43; eighth-grader Susanna Jakub of Blue Hill, ninth in 12:52; and seventh-grader Cadi Howell of Mount Desert, 10th in 12:52.

Ellsworth, led by McPherson, won girls’ team honors with 59 points, edging runner-up Dedham by five points.

Others on the Ellsworth team included Bronwyn Beardsley, Bettina Bresinsky, Kristen Mosely, Grace Broughton, Kristy Barry and Amie Lupo.

In the boys’ race, Bell of Blue Hill finished eight seconds ahead of eighth-grader Sean Murray with his winning time of 11:22.

Other boys among the top 10 were Ian Brenner-Simpson of Mountain View, third in 11:31; seventh-grader Calvin Partin of Pemetic, fourth in 11:34; seventh-grader Jack DaCorte of Mount Desert, fifth in 11:38; fifth-grader Biruk Beardsley of Ellsworth, sixth in 11:41; eighth-grader Mark Berry of Ellsworth, seventh in 11:45; seventh-grader Ethan Young of Peninsula, eighth in 11:46; fifth-grader Whit Chaplin of Mount Desert, ninth in 11:50; and seventh-grader Nyamh Wolf of Surry, 10th in 11:54.

With Beardsley leading the way, the Ellsworth boys also took top team honors with 46 points, finishing 13 points in front of runner-up Mount Desert.

Other Ellsworth team members were Berry, Nicholas Cormier, Thadeus St. Peter, Joshua Puno-Buzzell, Logan McGowan and Austin Kidder.
