“Tonight the kids played really well,” said MDI Coach Justin Norwood. “We started on a positive note, shot the ball really well, and defensively we were excellent for the most part. It was a really good team win.”

The Trojan boys took an early lead, sinking 23 points in the first quarter and allowing just six from their opponents. They held a double-digit lead throughout.

MDI players sank a total of 10 3-pointers and were 5-for-7 from the free-throw line.

The Trojan boys are set to host the Ellsworth Eagles on Thursday, Feb. 4, for their final regular season game at 7 p.m.

According to Norwood, going into the tournament season, the focus of his squad is to “get out and play the kind of basketball that we’ve been playing all year.”

The team, he said, recognizes “what our philosophy and goals are,” and is working towards “trying to clean up all the little things going forward.”
