MDI boys head to Eastern Maine final

BANGOR — The Mount Desert Island High School boys’ varsity basketball will face Medomak Valley High School in the Class B Eastern Maine final on Saturday after defeating second-seeded Presque Isle Wednesday night with a final score of 51-40.

That final game is scheduled at the Bangor Civic Center auditorium at 4 p.m.

“The third quarter was huge,” said MDI head coach Justin Norwood, following the Presque Isle game. The Trojans were trailing at halftime following a low-scoring second quarter.

Trojan Adam Gray accounted for six points in his team’s third quarter recovery. MDI player Keegan McKim picked up the pace in the fourth quarter, scoring eight points at the free throw line to solidify his teams lead amidst low shooting accuracy.

“Keegan took care of the ball fantastically,” said coach Norwood.

“The biggest thing was taking care of their ‘bigs’,” he continued, noting Presque Isle players Bradley Shields and Tyler Brooks, whom both topped six feet, five inches. “Our ‘bigs’ did a fantastic job,” of that.
