Freshman boys go 14-5

BAR HARBOR — Few Mount Desert Island High School basketball teams, if any, have had more success than the freshman boys’ squad has in recent years. In 2018-19, the Trojans continued that tradition.

The MDI freshman boys’ team helped to maintain the school’s across-the-board success in the sport this season with a 14-5 record. The season marked Chris McGuire’s second as the team’s coach.

“We had a successful season,” McGuire said. “We received about a dozen compliments from officials pertaining to sportsmanship.”

MDI went 17-2 last year, undefeated in 2016-17, 16-6 in 2015-16 and 10-2 in 2014-15.

Team members were Tucker James, A.J. Lozano, Joey Minutolo, Wilder Noyes, Harley Henderson, John Bennett, Jack White, Jack Hodgdon, Ben Lipski, Jaden Sevene, Emrys Miller, Nathan Lawson and Alex Fernald.
