The still-undefeated Mount Desert Island Trojans notched their fourth win and the Ellsworth Eagles picked up their third victory of the season in girls’ basketball action this week.

Nine players contributed to the scoring for the Trojans as they cruised to a 56-27 win over the host Foxcroft Academy Ponies on Wednesday, Dec. 19, in Dover-Foxcroft.

Ellsworth 46, GSA 32

Junior Morgan Card helped Ellsworth establish an early lead, scoring eight of her game-high 17 points and assisting on two more as the hosts grabbed an 11-3 first period lead over the George Stevens Academy Eagles on Friday in Ellsworth.

The Ellsworth defense limited GSA to just nine points in the first half.

GSA scored seven quick points on baskets by Charlotte Reiter and Alice Dillon and a three-pointer by Jen McKenney, cutting the Ellsworth lead to 22-16 early in the third period.

But that was as close as GSA would get.
