EAST MACHIAS — Following a definitive win earlier in the week, the Mount Desert Island High School varsity baseball team lost to Washington Academy Tuesday night.

The final score was 4-1, improving the Raiders’ record to 8-2 while MDI fell to 7-4.

Before facing Washington, MDI easily outplayed Hermon High School on May 9, led by pitcher Ben Walls who threw 64 strikes and gave up only five hits that game.

That broke his team’s two-game losing spell after the Trojans fell to top seeded Foxcroft Academy and mid-ranked Old Town High School before facing Hermon.

Five games remain in the regular season for the Trojans, two of them against Foxcroft and Old Town.

Before those games, however, MDI must face John Bapst Memorial High School on May 16, a team with just two losses that beat MDI with a score of 2-1 earlier in the season.
