Ellsworth boys advance to 9-10 baseball semifinal

ELLSWORTH — In a Little League All-Star baseball semifinal game for ages 9-10, Ellsworth beat the Acadians 21-3 in four innings.

Ellsworth has advanced its tournament record to 3-0 and will compete in the finals.

David Bough pitched the first three innings for Ellsworth, giving up only three runs. Nathan Smith closed out the game in the fourth, striking out two of the three batters he faced.

Baugh led the Ellsworth offense with two triples, one single and five RBIs. Landon St. Peter contributed a triple and a double. Brett Bragdon added a triple and an RBI. Mason Tupper had a triple with two RBIs. Hunter Curtis had a single and a triple with three RBIs, and Chase Crossman had a double with one RBI.

For the Acadians, Tucker James, Alex Fernald and Johnny Wiegers each scored a run in the third inning. Four consecutive walks drew in two of the runs, with A.J. Lozano running in the third on a fielder’s choice. On the mound for the Acadians were Luke Horner, Wiegers and James. Horner led with five strikeouts.

Ellsworth 13, Calais 0

The Ellsworth boys notched their second tournament win, downing Calais 13-0 on Tuesday, July 1, in Calais.

Hunter Curtis pitched a four-inning no-hitter for Ellsworth, striking out 10 batters, and helped the team offensively with a double and triple, driving in four runs.

Chase Crossman and Landon St. Peter each doubled and drove in a run and Chase Johnson singled with an RBI.

Acadian 24, Machias 14

Acadian of Bar Harbor posted a 24-16 win over Machias on Tuesday, July 1, in Bar Harbor.

Quentin Pileggi had a big game for Acadian with three singles and an inside-the-park grand-slam home run.

Wilder Noyes drove in two runs with four singles and Luke Horner had three singles with an RBI in the win for Acadian.
