SFOA runs honor Simeon Michaud

SOUTHWEST HARBOR — Summer Festival of the Arts fifth annual 5K and Fun Run will start at the Pemetic Elementary School on Father’s Day, Sunday, June 17. The Fun Run begins at 8:30 a.m., and the 5K begins at 9 a.m.

Last year’s winners in the 5K were Kevin Peterson and Susan Brenner.

The event celebrates the life of Simeon Michaud, a former student who thrived while at SFOA and was passionate about running. Michaud’s father, Ed Michaud, has been an integral part of planning the event (see related story).

All ages are welcome; last year, the third-place winner in the Fun Run was a 9-year-old! Teams are encouraged to participate. The entrance fee is by donation, and all proceeds directly benefit SFOA’s scholarship fund, which helps local kids attend programs and receive a quality arts education. Preregistration is strongly encouraged at www.sfoamaine.org.
