MOUNT DESRT — The annual Sea of Blue Walk and 5K, promoting autism awareness, is set for Saturday, April 27, in Northeast Harbor.
2019 marks the sixth edition of the race, which was first held in 2014 as part of then-Mount Desert Island High School student Christopher Heel’s senior exhibition project. It offers a 2-mile walk and 5K run/dog walk and raises money for the Autism Society of Maine.
Those interested in participating in the race, donating or both can do so at seaofblueautism.com, though race-day registration will also be offered. The cost is $15 for the 2-mile walk or $20 for the 5K and dog run.
Race action will begin at the Neighborhood House in Northeast Harbor. Participants are invited to the Tan Turtle following the event for free refreshments and post-race awards.
Last year, Judson Cake of Bar Harbor was the first across the line in the 5K, with a time of 17 minutes, 15 seconds.
