    The Mount Desert Island track team is looking for officials and workers to assist with its final track and field meet. MDI will be hosting a six-team meet Saturday, May 15. Competitions are scheduled to begin at noon, though those working the meet may be asked to arrive early for meet preparation and other responsibilities.

    MDI softball team romps Washington Academy; baseball falls

    The bats are rolling and the wins are coming for the Mount Desert Island softball team as the Trojans get set to close out the first half of the season. MDI improved to 5-2 on the season with a 16-3 victory over Washington Academy in Friday’s showdown in Bar Harbor. The win was the third straight for the Trojans, who have now scored 39 runs over their past three games.

    MDI boys 1st, girls 2nd in Brewer track meet

    The Mount Desert Island boys’ and girls’ track teams were again among the top squads as the Trojans participated Saturday in their first road meet of the season. The MDI boys’ team claimed a win in its second consecutive meet Saturday as it racked up 193 points to top Bangor first place. The Trojans also had a strong showing on the girls’ side as they beat out Presque Isle, Houlton, Fort Fairfield, Piscataquis and Searsport for second place in the seven-team field.

    MDI baseball, softball teams top Brewer, GSA

    The Mount Desert Island baseball and softball teams both improved to 4-2 on the season with a pair of key road victories in recent contests. The MDI baseball team bounced back from defeats last Tuesday against Bucksport and Saturday against Old Town with wins last Thursday against Brewer and Tuesday against George Stevens Academy. On the softball diamond, the Trojans won back-to-back games with wins over Brewer and GSA on Monday and Tuesday, respectively.
