Traditional hallmarks of the race, run since 2002, include teams running in costume. On each leg, runners also carry Barbie dolls as batons. This year, the team FRNY Reggie’s Angels came in first overall, running a total time of 7:18:05.

Ten teams ran the race, which circumnavigates MDI and began and ended at Mainely Meat Barbeque in Bar Harbor. A cook-out and awards ceremony followed.

For one of the most fun running events on the island, teams of two to nine people come together to run a nine-leg, approximately 62-mile relay on roads around the island. The race has been competitive since 2006, but the focus is fun according to the event website.
