Northeast Harbor Golf Club holds third annual tournament



MOUNT DESERT — The Northeast Harbor Golf Club held the third annual Robert A. Gardner Memorial Golf Tournament on Saturday, June 25.

The team of Chris Burnett, Kyle Westhorpe, Ebb Walton and Gary Discillo came in first overall with a gross score of 52.

Fred Gardner, Debbie Gardner, Will Gardner and Jerome Suminsby came in second with a gross score of 62, and Jim Stephens, Merilyn Stephens, Mazzi Gogolak and Charlie Gogolak came in third with a gross score of 63.

When calculating net scores, Bill Trimble, David Kirkland, Luke Van Allen and Chris Shepherd came in first with a score of 54.55. The team of Phil Dennis, Doug Irwin and Stefan Cushman came in second with a net score of 55.3, and the team of Fred Rogers, Seth Clark, Mike Kane and Steve Rush came in third with a net score of 55.9.

In the men’s closest-to-the-pin contest, Van Allen came in first on the third hole with a shot 7 feet, 3 inches from the hole; Clark on the sixth with a 2-foot shot; Jim Stephens on the eighth with 8 feet, 11 inches; Bob Robertson on the 12th with 10 feet, 1 inch; and Kyle Westhorpe on the 14th with 6 feet, 10 inches.

For the women, Whitney Connor came in first on the third hole with a shot 16 feet, 4 inches away from the hole; Susanne Coffin on the sixth with 19 feet, 6 inches; Pam Madeira on the eighth with 21 feet, 2 inches; Madeira again on the 12th with 6 feet, 3 inches; and Anna Woodward on the 14th with 16 feet, 2 inches.
