NEW YORK, N.Y. — Mount Desert Island High School senior Tia Tardy outran elite runners from all over the country to win the Emerging Elite 1-mile race at the New Balance Track and Field Nationals at the Armory here on Saturday. Tardy ran the mile in 4:58.83 for the win.
Tardy also competed in the 800-meter run. She finished 16th in 2:14.34.
On Sunday, freshman Liam Higgins competed in the Freshman 400-meter run. He took 35th place in 54.44 seconds.
