BAR HARBOR — A quartet of Mount Desert Island High School track and field alums posted months to remember in April with one medaling at his conference championships and three others setting school records.
Class of 2017 graduate Giovanni McKenzie, who competed on MDI’s 2016-17 state championship-winning indoor team, took second in the men’s triple jump Saturday at the Sun Conference championships Saturday in Savannah, Ga. The Keiser University sophomore posted a combined distance of 45 feet, 5 inches in the event.
Earlier in the month, 2018 graduate Croix Albee recorded a distance of 45 feet, 11 inches in the shot put to take first place at the Southern New Hampshire University Spring Invitational. The Franklin Pierce University freshman’s throw was a school record.
On April 2, Dori LeMoine was named Great Northeast Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week after breaking Saint Joseph’s College records in the shot put and hammer throw. It was the third outdoor school record for the 2018 MDI graduate, who had previously set the GNAC’s javelin throw mark.
Griffin Maristany set a school record of his own April 20 when he was part of a 4-by-400 relay team that set a Wesleyan University school record with a time of 3 minutes, 20.87 seconds. Maristany was part of the Trojans’ Class B title-winning outdoor squad last season.
