MDI softball sinks Ellsworth

ELLSWORTH – The Mount Desert Island High School varsity softball team improved to .500 on the season with an 8-2 win Thursday against the Ellsworth Eagles. Trojan Haley Littlefield pitched the complete game, allowing two runs on four hits. She threw 53 strikes and 19 balls.

On offense, Avalon Kerley had two RBIs, Katie Guarino had two runs and an RBI, Cassidy Parady had a run and an RBI and Madison Thornton and Alaina Duley each had one run. Aubrie Boyce hit a two-run single in the sixth. The final score was 8-2.

“We hit the ball better, more aggresively,” MDI coach Bruce Walls said. “We had some strikeouts. Mariah Brown threw that change-up, she got us a few times. We made some plays on defense today, and didn’t have a lot of errors, which is a good combination.”
