BAR HARBOR — The Mount Desert Island High School baseball team is now 3-3 on the season after beating Washington Academy last week.
In the 11-1 home win, the Trojans smacked 13 base hits against the Raiders.
Sam Mitchell was MDI’s star of the game both on the mound and at the plate. Mitchell allowed just one unearned run on the mound in six innings of work, striking out six batters, walking two and holding the visitors to just five hits. He recorded four hits in as many at-bats at the plate and knocked in four runs.
Elsewhere for the Trojans, Logan Beckwith had three base hits and an RBI. Quentin Pileggi had a multi-hit game of his own with two singles and three runs scored. Corson, Isaacs, Keblinsky and Drew Shea had the other hits for the Trojans, who activated the 10-run mercy rule with the final run in the sixth inning.
MDI was scheduled to travel to play on the road against Old Town (3-3) on Tuesday afternoon, but the game was postponed as a result of inclement weather. The teams rescheduled the game for Wednesday.
MDI is scheduled to host Foxcroft (2-3) at 4 p.m. May 9. The Trojans will play on the road against Washington Academy and Ellsworth at noon Saturday, May 11, and 4:30 p.m. Monday, May 13, respectively, before hosting Belfast at 4:30 Tuesday, May 14.
