BAR HARBOR — Thirty-six Mount Desert Island High School athletes received all-conference honors from the Penobscot Valley Conference for their performance both on and off the field during the spring season.
Ten students were placed on the first team for their sports, the highest all-conference honor an athlete can receive. Five were from the tennis team: Kaleb Payson, Jimmy Carroll, September Murray, Olivia McCarthy and Emily McCarthy, and five were from the track team: Ryan Bender, Griffin Maristany, Billy Kerley, Josh Bloom and Ashley Anderson.
Fifteen students made the second team for their sports: Delany Smith and Eliza Schleif from the tennis team; Ryan Bender, Josh Bloom, Thorin Smith, Sean Murray, Billy Kerley, Croix Albee, Ashley Anderson, Lily Turner Adriana Novella, Paige Mason, Sydney Kachmar and Grace Rodick from the track team; and Avalon Kerley from the softball team.
Eleven students made the all-academic team, an honor given to athletes who keep their grades up while also performing well in their sports. The players who received that honor were Kaleb Payson, Molly Corson and Gabrielle Link from the tennis team; Delia Hallett and Riley Mooers from the track team; Kyle Lamson, Dylan Collins and Matt Lambert from the baseball team; and Julianna Cleaves, Brittany Corson and Cassidy Parady from the softball team.
Congratulations to those who made all-conference and to all of the athletes on their seasons this spring, a statement from school officials said.
