Lady Trojans edge PI in tennis quarterfinals

BAR HARBOR – In a seven-point tiebreaker with both coaches watching from near the scorecards at the net Friday, Ivy Wallace of Mount Desert Island High School defeated Michelle Cawley of Presque Isle to send MDI to semifinals Saturday. MDI began the match ahead 2-0 due to two forfeited doubles matches and PI won two singles matches. Wallace won the first set 6-3 and Cawley won the second 7-6. With split sets the coaches came out onto the court and explained the rules of the tiebreaker and the crowd grew quiet.
