Fourth of July relay race

BAR HARBOR — The Fourth of July Around MDI Relay is set for Tuesday, July 4, from 6-9 a.m.

The 100-kilometer relay route goes through each town and village of Mount Desert Island beginning at Mainely Meat Barbecue (Dreamwood Hill) at 369 Route 3 in Bar Harbor.

Runners may join an existing team or create a new team. Some runners compete in tutus or other costumes, and Barbie dolls have traditionally been used as relay batons. Teams range from two to nine runners.
