Cookie’s ride ready to rock

BAR HARBOR — The third annual Cookie’s Ride to Support Cancer Research at The Jackson Laboratory is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 3, beginning and ending at The Jackson Laboratory in Bar Harbor and culminating in a post-ride celebration.

The ride celebrates the life of Cookie Willems, a beloved friend and longtime member of The Jackson Laboratory. She passed away in 2012, four years after being diagnosed with terminal ovarian cancer, and leaves behind a legacy of dedication, professionalism and quiet good cheer that continues to inspire her many close friends and appreciative colleagues.

All proceeds of the event will benefit The Cookie Willems/Jackson Laboratory Cancer Research Fund, which was established to honor Cookie and other friends and colleagues who have suffered from cancer.

Cyclists can choose from two loops. The first is a 6-mile ride and the second option is 20 miles.
