Cake wins track gold

LANDOVER, Md. — Bar Harbor runner Judson Cake, 40, medaled in three events over the weekend at the USATF Masters Indoor Track Championships.

Representing Dirigo Running Club Saturday afternoon, Cake won gold in the 1500-meter run for the 40-44 age group with his time of 4 minutes, 19.81 seconds.

He won silver in the 3000-meter run in his age group Friday with his time of 9:21.96. He was five seconds behind winner Brock Butler, and the two were 40 seconds ahead of the other two in the age group.

On Sunday, he finished second in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:09.82.

A Bar Harbor police officer, Cake has been active in local road races and distance competitions for many years. He was the winner of the MDI Marathon in 2004 and 2005 and has won numerous half marathons and 5K races.
