BAR HARBOR — It was a great week for the Mount Desert Island High School varsity boys’ soccer team.
On Saturday, the Trojans vanquished the Caribou Vikings 5-0.
MDI scored twice in the first half.
Trevor Morrison scored the first goal off an assist from Joe Grubb with 28:11 left in the half. Oliver Johnston provided the second goal, at 10:36, off an assist from Adam Bygdeson.
Midway through the second half, Bygdeson scored with 22:44 left in the half.
Grubb scored on a direct hit six minutes later. Simon Davis capped off the game with a goal with 7:19 remaining.
MDI vs. Old Town
After losing to Old Town earlier in the season, the Trojans came back to dominate the Coyotes last Wednesday night at home.
It was goal after goal for the Trojans.
Just two minutes into the game, Grubb put up the first goal for MDI.
Johnston scored again with 18:41 left in the first half, which carried the Trojans into halftime with a 2-0 lead.
Grubb scored three times in the second half, first at 39:23 with an assist from Jake Ressel, then at 35:07 with an assist from Trevor Morrison.
Owen Mild got into the goal with 26:00 left in the game.
Johnston scored twice in a row, at 20:38 and at 10:15 off a Ressel assist.
Grubb made the final point of the game off a direct kick with 4:06 remaining.
The boys host Ellsworth High School on Friday, Oct. 14, at 6 p.m. for their final home game of the regular season.
