Bloom wins XC Community Trail Race

Mount Desert Island High School senior Josh Bloom beat out 63 other runners Saturday morning at the second annual cross-country community trail race. He was first across the finish line in 22 minutes, 56 seconds. Bloom was followed closely by sophomore Oliver Johnston in 23:01, who then went on to help the varsity boys’ soccer team defeat Foxcroft Academy later that afternoon. Cross-country runner Tia Tardy was the first female finisher in 23:54, followed by teammate Emily Banks in 28:34. Runners aged 12 to 69 joined members of the cross-country team for its unofficial “meet,” which raised money for the team and the maintenance of trails behind the high school.
