BAR HARBOR — The Bar Harbor Rotary Club will hold its annual tournament at Pirate’s Cove Adventure Golf Saturday, May 18, beginning at 8:30 a.m.
The event is sponsored by the club and made possible with the support of Pirate’s Cove and Betty Eaton. Funds raised this year will support local cancer funds and patient services at Mount Desert Island Hospital’s oncology department. The event originated to help a Bar Harbor photographer pay for gas to travel for cancer treatments.
Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. Teams of four may register ahead of time or at the event for $50. Businesses and individuals can also sponsor holes for $100 or donate door prizes. Team prepayments are encouraged but can also be completed at the event.
“The American Cancer Society projects that there will be 8,920 new cases of cancer in Maine this year,” said Carrie Jones, president of the club. “Cancer hurts so many of our neighbors, members of our family. Members of our Rotary club are honored to help those who are dealing with the impact of cancer.”
