Acadian Senior League wins state championship



BAR HARBOR — The Acadian Senior League All Star Team won the Senior League State Championships for the second year in a row.

They will head to New Jersey on July 22 and stay through July 28 to compete in the Senior League East Tournament and vie for the chance to represent the East in the Senior League World Series (SLWS).

The team will play against state champions from Connecticut, Delaware, Massachusetts, Maryland, Maine, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania and Rhode Island. They will be led by coaches Kyle McKim, Andy Pooler and Mac Shea.

The SLWS will be from July 31-Aug. 6. It is held in Bangor every year at Mansfield Stadium.

The team is currently raising funds to be able to travel to New Jersey and compete in the tournament. They have a created a GoFundMe page where parties can give tax-deductible donations to the Acadian Youth Sports organization to support the team. The 2016 Acadian Senior League All Star Team and state champions are: Seth Clark, Derek Collin, Alden Fournier, Chris Horton, Oliver Johnson, Andrew Kennedy, Anthony Lawson, Finn McConomy, Owen Mild, Jacob Mitchell, Matt Perconti, Drew Shea, Parker Shortell, Noah Shulman, Nick Stanley, Liam Sullivan and Eilon Zboray.
