Now approaching her tenth year as the Dedham town clerk, Lisa Lovely attended SAD 63 schools while growing up in Holden. After graduating from Brewer High School, she worked as a deputy town clerk for Holden and then worked at Ames A/E in Bangor.
“I enjoy my work here” at the Dedham Town Office, said Lovely, also the registrar of voters. “I enjoy meeting people. I like being on the front line,” from answering phone calls to helping people “coming in through the door.
“There’s not very many things that you don’t do as a town clerk or employee,” Lovely said. She works with Karen Jellison, the deputy clerk and deputy treasurer, and Michelle Begin, the administrative assistant, and “we all work well together,” Lovely said.
The office staff serves Dedham and the Lucerne-in-Maine Village Corporation, a quasi-municipal village with its own elected overseers and annual meeting. Also residents and taxpayers of Dedham, Lucerne residents vote in Dedham elections and participate in the annual town meeting.

The Lovelys like “to spend a ton of time” at their East Grand Lake camp, where they are often joined by family members. Also members of the Grand Lakers ATV Club, the Lovelys “boat and fish and ATV when we’re up there,” Lisa said.
“I spend a lot of time with my family,” she said. “We have always been a tight-knit family.” As a notary public, Lovely officiated at her nephew’s August 2018 wedding in Stockton Springs.
And “I like to read,” with James Patterson and Danielle Steele among the authors whose novels she enjoys.
