To the Editor:
As the Bar Harbor Chamber of Commerce puts 2018 to bed, we enjoy taking this opportunity to look back at the past year.
Time certainly felt like it flew by! From the chamber’s perspective, it was a very successful year, and we know one of the biggest reasons for that success is the incredible community we get to live and work in.
We hosted our first Winter Beer Fest downtown, kicked off our season with a Business After Hours party at our visitor center, and gathered together on the pier for a Memorial Day remembrance ceremony.
All of a sudden it was summer and the community came together for a scorching 4th of July filled with a day of celebrations.
Our beautiful dark night skies called to visitors in September and, just when we thought we were winding down during the fall, we hosted the Early Bird Sale and Bed Races, complete with Santa coming to town to kick off the Midnight Madness Sale.
Key to the success of all these events are the people of this brilliant community. We know there is no way to support this number and size of events without the constant support and participation of the townspeople of Bar Harbor, and all our neighbors on Mount Desert Island.
Personally, I feel so lucky to be a part of this community. Thank you!
The chamber staff and I wish you all a joyful (and restful) holiday season with family and friends.
