Political reality

To the Editor:

So what happened? I quote from a song written by Kurt Weil in pre-Hitler Berlin from the musical Cabaret “Money, money, money makes the world go round, the world go round.”

Our democracy hangs by a thread when only the 1 percent get to choose and support who gets elected.

The election was decided by large amounts of money spent on TV ads and Twitter. People who watch the ads get a make-believe idea of the world and then turn to Twitter, a device that helpfully enables people to write faster than they can think.

Now we have a president who was a business man who became a politician and who needed to bend old facts to fit them into a new political reality in which he had never been wrong.
