To the Editor:
Despite happening during one of the worst storms of the winter, the 2019 Oscar Gala at Reel Pizza was an evening of entertainment, comedy, and fun! Dozens of folks turned out to hear ImprovAcadia’s hilarious commentary on the ceremony, many dressed up or in costume. The Kristen Klint Arts Fund (KKAF) was the host and beneficiary of the event for the first time, and we are already looking forward to next year’s party!
Until then, we’d like to thank Reel Pizza for the incredibly generous opportunity and all of their patience and support. We couldn’t have done it without Cas from Cas Ole catering, who took care of procuring, preparing, and serving all of the food!
The event would not be nearly as much fun if not for the talents of Jen and Amy of ImprovAcadia. We’d also like to extend a special thanks to the Jesup Memorial Library, past host of this event, for all of their advice, equipment loans, and general support.
Food donations by area restaurants and residents were plentiful and so appreciated; thanks to Dog & Pony Tavern, McKay’s, Pat’s Pizza, The Lompoc, China Joy, Bar Harbor Lobster Company, Peekytoe Provisions, Mama DiMatteo’s, Mae Corrion, Barbara Weymouth, and to Slice of Eden for a gorgeous cake!
Big thanks to our prize donors: The Lompoc, Massage Bar Harbor, Havana, ImprovAcadia, Spruce & Gussy, Cafe This Way, The Criterion, Linda Kelley, and Mama DiMatteo’s. Thank you to Atlantic Brewing and Thin Man Design for general event support, and to our fabulous volunteers: David Dunton, Claire Sasner, Allie Sasner, Tara Parker and Doug Maffucci.
All of the proceeds from the event benefit the Kristen Klint Arts Fund, which supports MDI women and girls in their creative endeavors. Hope to see you on the red carpet next year!
