To the Editor:
In the last edition of the Mount Desert Islander, it was stated that we the taxpaying residents of Bar Harbor can expect yet another hike in our property taxes for 2019. Nearly 5 percent. I am tired of property tax hikes. There seems to be no relief and no end to it.
Our monies need better management. We are in the midst of another expenditure that we cannot afford. We need to stop spending so much for so little.
We need viable real estate that we can tax. For example, instead of putting the town further in debt, release and forget the pier proposal. Sell it and tax it.
Or we could all just sit back do nothing and watch a military parade with an estimated cost of $30 million.
